This description is from the auction house from which this unique and sticking artwork was purchased.
A hand-drawn map depicting the West's principal rivers along with the fur trade Rendezvous from 1825 to 1830 is depicted. Rare 19th Century American Indian Primitive gouache watercolor painting. Depicting two Shawnee Indian warriors being fired upon by US Calvary soldiers as the Indians are charging on horseback. The reverse features a detailed hand-drawn map of the west and Spanish Territory. Painted in the Oklahoma Territory circa the 1870's. The artwork is signed with "Boone" in the lower right corner. The previous owner purchased it from a collector of Native Americana, who acquired it in the 1970s from a Montana collection where it has resided since the 1930s.
