A gorgeous and striking map of the World by Sebastian MŸnster as published in his German edition of ÒCosmographia UniversalisÓ. MŸnster based his map of the World on Abraham Ortelius' world map which includes a very large landmass at the southpole region. South America is an unrecognizable depiction of that contintent with the remainder being reasonably recognizable. The northwest passage is also clearly depicted. A very desirable map for World Map collectors.

Overall very good condition given its age. There are some minor worm holes, mostly in the margins with only 4 very small holes in the body of the map. Professionally cleaned, deacidified, backed with Japanese tissue. Nicely colored.
