Carte Générale de toutes les Routes de Postes d'Europe
DESCRIPTION
This is a striking and gorgeous large folding map of Europe, established by the officers of the Polish army in 1835. The map shows some interesting history of Poland.
In 1815, the Grand Duchy of Varsovia was divided between Prussia and Russia. The portion acquired by Russia became the Kingdom of Poland (shown on the map as Roy-me De Pologne). The city of Cracovia (Kraków) was erected in the independent Republic of Cracovia (which lasted from 1815 to 1846), as can be seen on the map.
This map is dedicated to Lord Dudlay Stuart (1803-1854) who was a British politician, a prominent defender of the rights and interests of Poland.
