DESCRIPTION
Striking and highly detailed very interesting original colored lithographic map of the Strait of Gibraltar. The map shows the city and the rock of Gibraltar, as well as Ceuta & Tangier, in Morocco. Several sailing ships adorn the plate.

Atlas of the world in 2 volumes, published mainly for educational purposes; the plates were also sold separately, and the title page reads in fact ""50 cents each table"". Volume 1 contains 16 lithographic maps and views, some double page. They depict the solar system, the Figure of the Earth, World Map, the Races of the globe, Europe, its primary city, accompanied by a descriptive text sheet, the Powers of Europe with the main models of ships and the colors of the flags, Italy, the Dardanelles and the Strait of Gibraltar, the beautiful ""view of Italy Perspective"" showing a birds eye view from the Alps to Sicily, and Italy Hydrographic Chart. Also contains explanatory notes in the margins and statistical information on the Eastern and Western Hemispheres, Europe, Asia, Africa, Americas, and Oceania by Giuseppe Civelli and Paolo Bezzera.
