DESCRIPTION

This is a beautiful and striking example of Homann's map of Generalite de Lyon in France and surrounding areas.  The map is beautifully hand-colored in outline and wash as published.  The region covered extends from the L'Aille River in the west near Clermont, west across the La Loire River, to Lyon, on the L'Auve River in the east.  The map shows relief, forests, towns, fortifications, churches, and other information pictorially. A decorative cartouche in the lower left with legend and scale bars.  Additionally, there is a secondary title in French across the top just outside of the neatline.
